Battle Weary

This Primary battle of the Democrats has gotten way past old. The supporters for Obama and Clinton are getting nasty and I'm tired of it. Clinton herself is not stopping at anything to win. Cannot wait for this to be over and I don't think Gore will end up being the candidate. The DNC wouldn't let that happen. It will probably end up being Obama/Clinton which is the best outcome.
In the meantime, the violence in Iraq is getting worse as the ceasefire has been lifted. More deaths and horror. Hear at home the economy is getting worse and gas is about $3.35 a gallon. Housing prices have gone down 8%. Who can afford a new one now? Credit is so tight who could even get a loan? Are business failures and massive layoffs next?
Our store has closed as of Jan. 26th. While it was open, so many people came in who obviously were in dire straits. We couldn't afford to stay in business. Costs are too high, rent was too high, and hiring help was out of the question. Now we are left with the bills that came with desperately trying to hang on. Will probably have to file for bankruptcy. It also didn't help to be harassed by an associate of my husband's. Scary stuff. Hope she stays away from us. I don't pretend that Clinton, Obama or even McCain could ever do anything to help us, though the stimulus money we'll get will come in handy.
In the meantime, I will just try to stop watching politics on tv and hope for the best. The cartoon on the previous post makes me smile.

Peace to all unapologetic Gore fans

A Brokered Convention?

It looks like there is a chance for a brokered Democratic Convention. Neither candidate Obama or Clinton have enough pledged delegates to close the deal although Obama comes close. He will probably get it unless Clinton wins Pennsylvania by an extremely large margin. The Superdelegates may fill in the gap for Obama.
Those in the Gore camp (still) are hoping against hope for a brokered convention where Gore would be the consensus candidate. There is a Newsweek article out that says at much. For my part, I am off the rollercoaster. Have been on the thing for over four years and have been thrown off more than once. Obama seems like a real hope for healing this country now.
